The Choir of St James', one of Australia's oldest musical institutions, can trace its lineage back to the early years of the parish. Indeed, some of its early members were convicts. For much of its almost two hundred years of ministry, the Choir has been regarded as one of Australia's foremost Anglican choirs. This has continued to the present day where in Sydney the Choir consists of around ten professional adult singers.
The Choir has previously performed in Bundanoon in May 2011 and September 2015. In 2013 the Choir released two recordings Christmas at St James' and Any given Sunday. More recently, they have released a CD Metamorphosis which brings together 'old' and 'new' music by some of the greatest composers of the Renaissance era, interwoven with music by contemporary composers.
Performing with the Choir will be Rachel Scott a Sydney-based cellist known for her unconventionality — in programming, choice of artists, venue choices and delivery in concerts. She is constantly trying new combinations of instruments — cello and percussion, cello and accordion, cello and spoken word. Concerts are a time of celebration — of sharing and enjoying.
Details regarding the concert will be posted on this website closer to the event.
